A great ceilidh lives or dies by the caller — the person who sets the tone, guides the dancers and keeps the whole room smiling. It’s one of the most important roles of the night, and we’re proud to have a caller with over 20 years of experience leading guests of every age, background and confidence level.
Our caller’s style is friendly, relaxed and full of humour. They know exactly how to read a room, explain the steps clearly and keep everyone engaged without ever making anyone feel self‑conscious. Whether your guests are seasoned ceilidh dancers or have never even heard the word before, they’ll be in safe hands from the very first dance.
One of our specialities is teaching complete beginners. We regularly play at weddings where half the guests have travelled from abroad and have no idea what a ceilidh is — and these nights are often our favourites. There’s something brilliant about watching people go from “I’m not sure about this…” to laughing their way through the Dashing White Seargant with total strangers.
A good caller doesn’t just teach the dances; they shape the mood of the whole evening. They bring the energy up when the room needs it, slow things down when guests need a breather, and make sure everyone feels included. It’s this balance of clarity, confidence and fun that keeps the dancefloor full and the atmosphere buzzing.
If you’re planning an event and want to know more about how we run the ceilidh, we’re always happy to chat. Our caller will make sure your guests feel welcome, relaxed and ready to have a brilliant night.
